New Animated Show About Adventures of Ernest and Célestine Aired in France

A new animation show following the famous “Oscar” nominated cartoon premiered on TV screens in France. The 1st episode of “Ernest and Célestine, The Collection” aired on France 5 on the 1st of April.

The stories about a soft-hearted, yet a bit grumpy, bear and an upbeat orphan mouse has accompanied the childhood of already several generations. The legendary characters initially appeared in 1981 in the books by Gabrielle Vincent, a talented illustrator from France. In 2012 the friends’ adventures were screened into a feature-length cartoon. The picture received the “César” Award as the best animated film and in 2014 it was nominated for the “Oscar” and the “Annie” Awards.

The new series’ creators have carefully preserved the same atmosphere of magic that fascinated the viewers of the full-length cartoon. Light and smooth watercolor graphics, touching characters and genuine friendship stories were skillfully embodied in the new episodes.

The show covers 26 episodes with a duration of 13 minutes each. The project producers are also negotiating future releases in other European countries, in Asia, as well as in Canada and the USA.
